Joe's Blog Joe's Blog Let My Harley Rest

I gotta say 2010 has been a great year for my FXR. After some mechanical problems that were addressed early on my bike was more than eager to "hit the road" We meet old & new friends on the adventures that usually ventured West. 2010 was my year for heading North & West thinking ahead for 2011 would tell me it'll be south & east. I am not known for going by the book & never use GPS.

So putting the "rig" into hibernation is not the pleasant event for those that"Live to Ride".Living in the Midwest for most of my days it is a neccessary evil to winterize here. Yes I have heard of the diehards that "Ride to Live" that ride their bikes yearround never ride in a cage. One dealership back in the day had an owner who rode a servicar was never seen in a car.My bandanna goes off to those brave & numb souls who ride in our midwest winter. The big advantage might be the potholes are filled with snow, not much but it is something.

When a brother called me a few weeks ago to winterize our posse of three harleys I made the move.So with a bottle of Sta-Bil in hand , all three bikes gulped down the ounces  to idle in synchrinization. It was cool to hear this music to my ears. I know the next step of removing the battery is only temporary to the months of hibernation. The sync would always sound sweeter somewhere in the southwest idling at a stop on the open road.

My journey to Sturgis this year was definetly a place I needed to be. Some call it the "bikers disneyland" I saw a multitude of events not in one spot  but allover a great place to ride. Meeting up with old & new friends who know what it is to "Live to Ride". My FXR handled like a champion even when I was daydreaming & was running on fumes sniffing for petro in some Amish town blessed with a bumper crop of corn. When I needed to dodge some storm clouds my fxr responded quickly when I gunned the throttle to out run an early bike wash. I truly beleive I have something better than OnStar when I ride & my journey proved it once again.

This coming winter & in the future HDBF will be more informative about Biker's Right's events. Groups like BOLT,ABATE need our help as the few in charge making up our rules want us to be in parades only. This is reality bikers,do your part to see what it is all about  & get educated in what matters to those that "Live to Ride".
